A exposição Exercício Bailado de Ana Mazzei partiu de um diálogo entre o entorno da rua barra funda e o projeto Residência e Diálogos entre Artistas, realizado durante o mês de outubro e novembro no espaço BREU. O projeto foi fomentado pelo ProAC ICMS da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado de São Paulo e foi realizado em parceria com o Projeto A.SP. A exposição, que teve duração de duas semanas, aconteceu ao longo de um quarteirão da rua Barra Funda, centralizado no numero 288.
Ana Mazzei’s exhibition “Ballet Exercise” came from a dialogue between the surroundings of the deep bar and the Residency and Dialogues between Artists project, held during the month of October and November in the BREU space. The project was fomented by the ProAC ICMS of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture and was carried out in partnership with the A.SP Project. The two-week exhibition took place over one block of Barra Funda Street, centered on 288.

Para Ana Mazzei, arte, a arquitetura e as paisagens constroem, em si mes- mas, uma ficção que os conecta, resultando em instalações, configurações e objetos. Algumas das obras funcionam em menor escala, como séries de instalações dispostas no chão, formadas por grupos de pequenas formas de feltro, concreto ou madeira semelhantes aos modelos arquitetônicos de cidades antigas, anfiteatros ou monumentos. Além dos exercícios for- malistas, esses objetos no chão invocam histórias não identificadas que sugerem estruturas arquetípicas ocultas e impenetráveis – são como peças e fragmentos de mitos, vidas e ficções que são representados em pinturas, vídeos, esculturas e instalações.
Suas obras foram inclusas recentemente no Padiglione d’Arte Contempo- ranea (Milão), na Bienal Internacional de Cuenca, Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, MASP (São Paulo), House of Egorn (Berlim), Contemporary Art Centre, (Vilnius, Lithuania), Instituto Tomie Othake (São Paulo), Parque Lage (Rio de Janeiro), entre outros.

To Ana Mazzei, art, architecture and landscapes construct, in themselves, a fiction that connects them, resulting in installations, settings and objects. Some of the works operate on a smaller scale, such as the series of installa- tions arranged on the floor formed by groups of small shapes made of felt, concrete or wood similar to the architectural models of old cities, amphithea- ters or monuments. Beyond the formalist exercises, these floor objects invoke unidentified stories that suggest hidden and impenetrable archetypal struc- tures – they are like pieces and fragments of myths, lives and fictions that are represented in paintings, videos, sculptures and installations.
Her works were recently features in important institutional exhibitions at Pa- diglione d’Arte Contemporanea (Milan), Bienal Internacional de Cuenca, Bie- nal Internacional de São Paulo, MASP (São Paulo), House of Egorn (Berlim), Contemporary Art Centre (Vilnius, Lithuania), Instituto Tomie Othake (São Paulo), Parque Lage (Rio de Janeiro), among others.
